On Tuesday May 22nd, Norton Police responded to a residence on North Washington Street at 12:50pm for
a report of a breaking and entering in progress. The homeowner phoned
police stating that he believed he heard someone in his residence as he arrived
home. The homeowner told police that a blue Land Rover was parked in his
driveway with a male operator inside. The operator stated he was looking
for someone and drove off when the homeowner informed him he had the wrong
address. As the homeowner then walked up to the front door, he could hear
noises inside the residence.
As police
arrived, a male subject, Louis Breton, age 49, of South Easton, was exiting the
residence and was placed under arrest. Mansfield Police were informed of
the description of the vehicle that fled the area. The vehicle was
stopped in Mansfield by Mansfield Detective Kenneth Wright. The operator
of the vehicle, Ryan Ventura, age 23, of Taunton, was transported back to the
residence in Norton and subsequently placed under arrest.
Ptlm. James
Young, who was working a traffic detail nearby, was the first to arrive on
scene, along with Ptlm. Kevin Schleicher. They were assisted by Sgt. Jon
Goodwin, Ptlm. Jesse Winters, Det. James Franco and Det. Todd Bramwell.
Breton is
charged with breaking and entering in the daytime with intent to commit a
felony, and willful and malicious injury to private property. Ventura is
charged with breaking and entering in the daytime with intent to commit a
felony. Both are being held at the Norton Police Department; Breton on
$10,000 cash bail and Ventura on $5,000 cash bail. Both were to appear in
Attleboro District Court on Wednesday, 5/23/2012.
