Jeff Pitchell and the Texas Flood to Play Taunton

April 15, 2009 - Taunton, MA - Saturday, April 18th will be a first for the city of Taunton as nationally acclaimed Rock, Rhythm and Blues performer Jeff Pitchell takes the stage at a local venue. Jeff, a dynamic and exciting high-energy performer, will bust loose with a blues fever that may permanently infect the local music scene.

Entertainment writer Donnie Moorhouse of The Republican claims that "Pitchell can flat out play. He is highly revered locally (in Connecticut) but still way too underrated. He backs it up with a soulful voice and solid song selection."

Jeff Pitchell’s Pyramid Records release "Heavy Hitter" remained number seven on the Billboard charts for twelve consecutive weeks. Jeff Pitchell and the Texas Flood have continued to make headlines causing quite a stir in the music world. Jeff recently won two awards for his songwriting: one from the American Great Song Contest for his song "Prisoner of Love", and one from the International Songwriting Contest for "Eye for an Eye".

Jeff has been on stage with and produced recordings with a number of top-notch performers including Rick Derringer, Kenny Wayne Shepard and Dickey Betts of the Allman Brothers. Jeff opened for the legendary B.B. King eleven times receiving standing ovations.

Pitchell is a college graduate and has taught as a schoolteacher, but he himself was enrolled into the world of music at an early age and swathed in the trappings of a performer. He started singing at the age of three and playing classical piano at the age of twelve.

You can find more information on Jeff Pitchell at www.jeffpitchell.com.

Norton Police Make Arrest

April 10, 2009 - Norton, MA - On April 4, Norton Police were dispatched to the Mansfield Wastewater Treatment Plant at 80 Hill Street, Norton, for a report of property damage.  Upon arrival, police found extensive damage to the front gate and fence, along with damage to the grass area on the property.

An investigation by Patrolman. Norton High to Hold 2009 All-Night Graduation Party for Seniors

April 10, 2009 - Norton, MA – Plans for Norton High School’s 7th Annual All-Night Graduation Party are under way. The Norton High School Parent Advisory Board, along with the Norton Community Task Force, have been working to organize the event, to be held on Friday, June 5, 2009 for all graduating members of the Norton High School Class of 2009.

This celebration is open to all graduating seniors of Norton High and is a fun-filled, safe and festive occasion that will truly cap off their high school memories. The Attleboro YMCA generously allows use of their facility, hosting the event from 11:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. on graduation night, June 5, 2009. During the evening, there will be many activities taking place – an all-night DJ, karaoke, "reality game show, dancing, swimming, inflatables, a hypnotist, money-free casino, henna tattoo artist and more. In addition, there will be a huge variety of food, snacks and refreshments and each senior will receive a special "memento" of the evening.

Seniors are not charged any fees for this special event; however the only thing we ask them is once they arrive, they stay until the evening is over. This will ensure a memorable, but safe graduation night for our seniors. Parents can feel secure that their son/daughter is celebrating in a protected environment with no driving, drinking or drugs. It’s a giant party that includes swimming, dancing, games, free entertainment, free food, and free prizes.

As you can imagine, an event of this nature requires funding and volunteer time to make it all come together. This is where we need your help. If you would like to make a donation to help support the 2009 NHS Grad Night Party, please send your check (payable to Norton High Grad Night) to Norton High School, 66 West Main Street, Norton, MA, 02766, Attention: NHS Parent Advisory Board.

The NHS Parent Advisory Board and Norton Community Task Force welcome, and greatly appreciate, all donations whether they are monetary, or of time, products, or service. For more information on how you can be a part of this community effort, please call Norton High School at 508-285-0160 or email NortonHighPAB@yahoo.com

Serendipity at Winslow Farm

April 10, 2009 - Norton, MA -- Winslow Farm Animal Sanctuary, located at 37 Eddy Street in Norton, is planning to create a magical kingdom of sorts for children who visit the sanctuary, with the addition of a Serendipity playground. In order to obtain the play set, Winslow Farm is seeking donations towards the cost.

This beautiful play set, with its international design, would be a wonderful addition to Winslow's already eclectic atmosphere and allow children to enjoy the outdoors in a safe, peaceful environment. Upon completion, the playground will be used during birthday parties and day and evening events.

"The Serendipity play set would be a perfect addition to our sanctuary to entertain children and their families while visiting our lovely animals and our beautiful grounds", says Debra White, President of Winslow Farm. "We are appreciative of any help we can get from the public."

To make a donation, please contact Winslow Farm phone at 508-285-6451, or by email at wnslofrm@aol.com.

Winslow Farm Animal Sanctuary is a nonprofit animal reserve, which is owned and operated by Debra White. The farm was established in 1996 for the care of abused and abandoned farm and exotic animals.
