"I
was thrilled to see that I had at least one student from each of
the towns I represent not only willing to do an unpaid
internship but jumping at the chance" said Barrows.
Owen
traveled into Boston once a week to get a feel for the
legislative process by attending daily seminars and helping
Representative Barrows’ office in constituent services and
data entry. Barrows said that "he attended daily seminars
and was able to hear from speakers such as Governor Deval
Patrick, House Minority Leader Brad Jones, former Massachusetts
Governor Michael Dukakis, and former Speaker of the House Tom
Finneran. He was also able to sit in on a few controversial and
highly interesting committee hearings"
"Owen
was incredibly helpful in the office and always willing to go
the extra mile. I am confident in saying that the Norton
community would be proud of his maturity and skills
levels." Barrows said. |
|
"Coming
into Boston and being exposed to how the legislative process
works will surely enrich his future studies, and I trust that
this experience will encourage Owen to stay actively involved in
politics in the future" said Barrows. |

|
|
August
11, 2009 - Boston, MA - House Minority Leader Bradley H. Jones,
Jr. congratulated State Representative Jay Barrows yesterday for
achieving an impressive voting record so far this legislative
session. |

State
Representative F. Jay Barrows
|
The
Mansfield Republican participated in all 210 roll call votes
held this year, a 100% voting record, casting votes in favor of
a number of reforms relative to pension and ethics while voting
against controversial issues such as the sales tax increase.
"Jay
is an incredibly committed member of the Massachusetts House of
Representatives," said Representative Jones. "He works
tirelessly on behalf of his constituents and is a great ally to
the people of his district. I am proud to work alongside such a
great legislator." |
|
"Perfect
attendance as a State Representative during these economic times
is nothing less than essential," said Representative
Barrows. "Being present for the discussions and votes that
affect my constituents is critical, I am proud to have done just
that. More importantly, is that the people in Foxborough,

the top of that list."
